The 21st Century

I got my first cell phone today--Cha and her parents were trying to find a way to get rid of their landline and make calling each other cheaper, and somehow I got roped into their Nextel dealie. I'd only had it for 20 minutes before it rang and annoyed me, so I switched it off and put it away. I suppose I'll be textmessaging like a mofo any day now.

Oh lucky you. Get ready for when you have a voicemail waiting and your phone just beeps nonstop until you call and retreive it. Or when you are sitting in a class or a movie theater and someone calls to shoot the breeze, and it takes you 5 minutes to find your loudly ringing phone in your coat pocket. Be sure to get the earpiece, so you can walk down the street on the phone and people think you are talking to yourself.

I'm eagerly anticipating the opportunity to loudly discuss very personal business on this phone while waiting in line at the grocery store.

Please walk by me so that I think that you are talking to me and then when I enquire if you need any help, please, please sneer at me as if I have no friends!
