Interesting

Usually, the Left is too dainty to abide Monsieur Mathers, but many Lefty blogs are hyping his new video. I can't get the sound to play, but liked what I saw, and will hopefully get a chance to check it out on BET or MTV tonight.

And, goddamit, I'm in the library too late tonight to watch this.

You don't want the sound on--trust me.

I heard it today, and don't get all the enthusiasm for the track--Dre's losing his hooks. There's maybe one good line about Bush as a WMD but it's not skillfully done; the rest seems a bit too "Follow Eminem, he'll show us the Light" for my taste. I still like the animation--I like the soldier who gets his orders on the porch saying "Fuck Bush" and the thug march into a polling place. The theme from Eight Mile was better.

So long as it gets a couple hundred thousand slackers to vote I'll be happy.

Yeah, I never liked any of his stuff but...

This guy says it pretty good--I especially like his point about 24 hour news cycle...he also says the vid is better than the song too.

There was some dude at The Daily Kos (link somewhere to the right) who liked the song AND the video, but whose take on the video was similarly impassioned and valid.

I liked exactly two tracks from his last two albums--the Eight Mile theme song, and the one on the previous album called "Without Me." That had the best hook I'd heard in hip-hop since prime grade-A Beastie (or that De La Soul album you lent me once). It also had a funny video. The "serious" songs I think are stupid Pink Floyd The Wall rehashes.
