netflixed

A charming little fantasy starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Bob DeNiro. It completely slipped under my radar until Faulty Landscape clued me in. A bit of Terry Gilliam mixed into The Princess Bride. Quite compelling and deliciously silly.

Alicia and I watched it over Christmas while in baltimore... we both loved it as well

I loved all the dead ghost/brothers laughing and tormenting each other all through the afterlife! ha!

I thought the book (at least as read by Gaiman since that's how I "read" it) was a million times better. I'm not much of a Gaiman fan, either.

And I really hated Bobby DeNiro's interpretation of the character. Like REALLY HATED.

never read the book... but books are almost ALWAYS going to be better!!! It's a rare thing where you ever overhear someone say "Yeah, saw the movie... boy did it SMOKE the book!" Ha!

I didn't care for DeNiro's pirate much either, but there was so much I DID like that I gave it a pass...

Yeah, Bob DeNiro and "comedy" are usually best left an unintentional mix. As a bit of self-parody I thought it acceptable. I like how hot Pfeiffer looks; I was never much of a fan.

Nice--it's a neat little film isn't it? Nothing amazing there but a good yarn nonetheless. Next Pfeiffer film to check out--Grease 2--hotness all over the place.

The book is great, Charles Vess does the visual chores and he's fantastic.

Another fun film I caught lately--Crank--hilarious. Myself, looking forward to Now Voyager...and taking the plunge into The Wire.
