Another quality NYRB re-issue. I'd not read Williams before--now I'm going to buy his other novels sight unseen.
Butcher's Crossing is elegant and efficient and I read the last 50 pages with that delicious and all too rare
frisson between part of me which wanted to find out the end and another part which didn't want the book to end.
The same frisson is manifest now that I've received season 5 of
The Wire on DVD. We've had it three days--I just can't bring myself to find out what happens.
