Day 171

I'm not a huge guy, but I'm in pretty good shape. I weigh 190 pounds. I'm pretty tough, and can be scary when I need to. But it never ceases to amaze me how I can yell, threaten, cajole, beg, plead, and glare at kids who are misbehaving and yet they ignore me. Or even worse, they sometimes taunt me or call me a "cracker ass muthafucka."

And then Lukie will say, quietly and calmly and with no emotion on her face at all: "I will ruin your life if you don't stop that," and everyone in the class freezes.

Project this summer: develop teacher tones.

  1. What? Weren't you listening to your mother growing up. I taught you tones! Draw from that and they should all sit up and pay attention. Bring that German ancestry into it!

an 85 year old NUN kept the fear of god in us...

    maybe you need a ruler?

also, she was told by the higher ups that she was no longer allowed to "hit" students anymore.

so when child A acted up, she would turn to child B sitting next to him/her, and make THEM hit child A!

and god help child B if they didn't... or did it poorly...

I think THAT is the way to go.

It's a girl thing. Women just know how to threaten, and mean it.
